Poor display costs Enfield and Haringey Athletics Club men’s team

Enfield and Haringey Athletics Club men’s team will be disappointed with their performance at Gateshead in their Division One British League match.
The club finished in seventh position out of the eight competing teams but, despite their final placing, there were displays to be pleased with.
In difficult weather conditions, which affected all events, Rhys Searls claimed top spot in the pole vault with an excellent 5.10m.
Bonnie Buwembo won the javelin with 68.27m and junior international Scott Lincoln came second in the shot with a personal best of 15.85m.
On the track, Ben Sumner recorded a fine win in the 400m with a time of 48.06, while Ben Nagy (9.34) and Shaun Collins (9.42.09) won the A and B string 3000m steeplechase respectively.
Team manager Malcolm Blackmore said: "Saturday was a very disappointing result and unless we have a much stronger team available for the third match on Saturday July 28 at Copthall, Barnet, our chances of promotion will almost be impossible and even relegation is not out not beyond possibility.
"At present after two matches we are in fourth place but there are four other clubs who are really striving for promotion and three others who are endeavouring to avoid relegation.”
