Jan Vertonghen is still keen to join Spurs despite Harry Redknapp’s departure, according to the player’s agent.
The Belgian has long been linked with a switch to White Hart Lane but the north London side parted company with manager Redknapp last week.
Tottenham were also denied Champions League football for next season after Chelsea’s victory over Bayern Munich saw them handed the fourth English place in the competition at Spurs’ expense, but Vertonghen’s agent says the Ajax defender is still happy to join the club.
“Nothing has changed at all. He is coming to Tottenham for the club and not for the manager,” Mustapha Nakhli is quoted on ESPN.
“Managers come and go. Of course Jan is sorry that Harry Redknapp is no longer there but he is going for the club.
“We have a good relationship with Daniel Levy. He wants the deal to happen and there is a good atmosphere.
“I don’t know when it will happen but the deal is close, very close.”
