SOUTHGATE Adelaide slipped back to third in Saracens Herts Division Four as Saturday's torrential rain ruined their chances of chasing Cockfosters' big score, away at Chalk Lane.
With a small boundary and a good wicket, the home side started off very well with Ian Cooper and Joe Clune seeing them to 120-1, before the introduction of Neil Watts with 4-79 and Dee Alleyne with 2-55 put the brakes on.
However, in the heat, the Adders' fielders couldn't quite keep up their good work and the last ten overs went for over a hundred, with Stokes feasting on the Adelaide bowling, before lightning and torrential rain flooded the square.
With Ampthill and Northampton Exiles both winning, Adelaide slip back to third.
