Enfield suffered the untimely setback of losing to one of their promotion rivals after succumbing to a six-wicket defeat at the hands of third-placed Harrow St Mary’s.

Victory for hosts Harrow sees them close the gap to just eight points on second-placed Enfield, who are themselves now four points off leaders Stanmore in a congested Division Two.

Batting first, Enfield got off to a disastrous start and they found themselves struggling at 17-3 with Kaleb Antony Auld (4-39) doing the bulk of the damage.

Rehan Hassan battled to post an unbeaten 54 but only Dan Amedee, who hit a useful 30, offered anything in support.

Syed Khawar Ali Kazmi’s 3-30 and 1-1 from Harindu Gunasekara helped dismiss the visitors for just 125 – a total that looked to be around 50 runs short of a competitive score.

In reply, Harrow were rarely troubled despite two wickets apiece for spinners Aamir Ihsan (2-10) and Hassan (2-32) as Jaimit Patel’s 63 helped them to their victory target after 30 overs.

Winchmore Hill battled to a four-point draw with Eastcote, but they are far from safe as they remain in eighth.

Batting first, visitors Eastcote posted 221-7 thanks to 64 from Ashane Wijesuriya and 46 from Thurairaj Ashwin.

There were two wickets apiece for Hill duo Mitchell Todd (2-48) and Jack Irwin (2-58) and one apiece for Charlie Avent (1-15) and Karan Parmar (1-49).

Winchmore’s reply got off to a steady start after an opening stand of 90 between Jim Gatting and Parmar.

However when the latter fell for 31 it instigated a mini collapse as they staggered to 128-4 – Gatting eventually falling for a well-fought 68.

Runs in the middle order rebuilt things with contributions of 24 from Sam Weller and 20 from Todd, but Hill would again collapse from 180-5 to 205-9.

Ross Forrester’s unbeaten 37 though, proved sufficient for the hosts to limp to 210-9 and secure a draw.
