A NEW management duo have taken charge at Enfield Borough in a move aimed at progressing the club further up the football pyramid.

The Spartan South Midlands League side have appointed Shaun Reece as manager and Roy Bleau as his assistant, with former boss Marvin Walker and assistant Aaron Archer stepping down to concentrate on off-the-pitch matters.

Walker said: “We are delighted that Shaun and Roy have joined Enfield Borough.

"As the club has grown over the past two years, I have found it increasingly more difficult to split my time between the role of co-owner and that of manager.

"Both Aaron and I feel it is important that the whole club grows off the park as well as progressing on it.

"We are a very young club who do not have a large staff working on our behalf. Therefore the onus is on us to push ahead with our plans and ideas for its future development.”

Reece previously served as assistant to Enfield Town manager Andy Leese, while Bleau was manager of Broxbourne Borough’s youth team which made national headlines when they reached the last 16 of the FA Youth Cup in the 2016-17 season.

Walker, who is now Borough's chairman, added “One of the goals when forming the club in 2016 was to provide local youngsters with a platform to develop their abilities to their maximum and Roy’s track record with the Broxbourne Borough youth team fits perfectly with those aims, while Shaun has an excellent background in non-league football and this will provide him with the opportunity to take charge of a club for the first time.

"While the faces in the dugouts may change, the style of football on the pitch will not.

"Our methods over the last two seasons have been noticed by bigger clubs higher up the football pyramid and have led to a couple of our players moving into the professional game. This would indicate that we have been doing things correctly and hopefully this process will continue in the years to come.

"These appointments are just part of an exciting future for Enfield Borough”.
