Frank Buglioni successfully defended his BBBofC British Light Heavyweight title with a unanimous victory on points against Ricky Summers at the O2 arena.

The Enfield fighter kept Summers at arms’ length throughout the 12 round bout, with the judges scoring the contest 116-113, 115-114 and 118-111 in his favour.

After a slow start to the first round, in which Buglioni used his jab effectively, he began to exert a level of dominance with some powerful shots.

Summers held his own until the third when a vicious right caught him on the counter and had the challenger wobbling.

He battled back gamely and even had Buglioni on the back foot in the fifth round after catching the champion with a right hook, before enjoying the better of the sixth.

Buglioni soon recovered his composure, however and a fierce left hook in the eighth saw the balance of power shift back in his favour.

The remaining rounds would not be trouble free for Buglioni though and Summers remained competitive until the final bell.

It wasn’t enough to deny Buglioni the 20th victory of his career as he retained his title.
