Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has challenged Harry Kane to score 30 goals next season after the striker fired another hat-trick in his side's 7-1 rout of relegated Hull.

Kane followed up his four-goal haul in Thursday night's 6-1 thrashing of fallen champions Leicester with three more to seal the Premier League golden boot for a second successive season as Pochettino's side ran riot again.

The England striker struck twice in the first 13 minutes and completed his hat-trick midway through the second period, while Dele Alli, Victor Wanyama, Ben Davies and Toby Alderweireld were all on target. Sam Clucas replied for Hull.

"It's fantastic for him," Pochettino said. "All his team-mates, all the club and the fans are so happy about that.

"He deserves it. Congratulations for him. He's one of the best strikers in the world."

Pochettino said Kane was struggling in the closing stages and that was why he decided to withdraw him with 11 minutes left.

"It was a moment to take responsiblity and a good decision and I prefer that next season he challenges again, to score 30 goals.

"But today we kept him safe and healthy and ready. He can do that. He's still improving and learning.

"His will to improve and learn is the most important thing in a player. Already he's one of the best strikers in the world.

"It's difficult to say who is the best, but he's one of the best sure, already."

Pochettino believes the 86 points his side amassed this season - seven behind champions Chelsea - would normally have been good enough to win the title, but he said they were getting closer.

"We will see what happens next season because our dream is to win the Premier League," he added.

"Our aim is to try and fight every season. After two very consistent seasons, why not next season?

"I'm so focused now on next season, to try and make the best decisions to try and improve the team, that is our objective now."

Hull were no match for the rampant Londoners as they slumped to one of their worst-ever home defeats and it was a sad end to the season for popular head coach Marco Silva.

The Portuguese, who signed a short-team deal until the end of the season in January, revealed he would announce his decision over his future after speaking with the club's owners on Wednesday.

"Now is not the moment to talk," he said. "When I talk with our owner next Wednesday, I will say to him and of course after, our players and our fans will know.

"I need to analyse, to see what is the best way for the club and me as well and not to decide anything with the heart, but to think about the moment.

"The fans' support is fantastic, but I need time to think and decide what is the best way for my career."

Tigers fans made it clear throughout that they want him to stay and again when he led his players around the pitch after the game.

"It was difficult because I felt they deserved something more," he said.

"Since I came they came to support the team and we were stronger in our stadium.

"They were amazing, the last four months. They know and understand why we didn't achieve our goal."
