Enfield Town recorded a well deserved 1-1 draw against leaders Bognor Regis Town in a Ryman Isthmian Premier Division fixture.

The Towners went into the game with only two defeats in 20 league outings and the visitors started the brighter of the two.

Enfield opened the scoring early when Ricky Gabriel forced the ball home after it bounced off Bognor's keeper.

Scott Shulton could have made it two but he fired well wide following a free-kick just outside the penalty box.

The Rocks had a chance to equalise on the 15th-minute mark when Ollie Pearce headed Harvey Whyte's deep cross from the right over the top.

Billy Crook was also marginally off target, minutes later, when he fired wide after a neat one-two.

Bognor's keeper Dan Lincoln made a vital save in the 21st minute when Tyler Campbell let a shot fly.

Campbell and Harry Ottaway had further efforts blocked while, at the other end, Shulton did well to clear away a dangerous ball from James Fraser.

The hosts upped their game after the break and Dernell Wynter may be left reeling he did not send his side 2-0 up.

He managed to beat the offside trap, and with only Lincoln to beat, he elected to try and take the ball around the keeper which allowed the nearest defender to recover.

And it was in the 57th minute when the Rocks drew level when substitute Alex Parsons put the Town defence under pressure.

He played the ball to Harvey Whyte who ran across the edge of the box and played in Elijah Adebayo who calmly slotted home.

It was anyone's game and chances came in quick succession for the home side with Chad Field and Dan Fraser both only narrowly missing the goal to take the lead.

With 15 minutes still to be played, sub Mickey Parcell crossed from the right and a great header from Ottaway dropped onto the bar with Lincoln beaten.

Fraser then intercepted a loose ball on the right-hand side and got to the by-line but Nathan McDonald managed to get a vital hand to the subsequent high ball.

The final 10 minutes were a nervous affair for both sets of reporters with Crook's free-kick being comfortably held by Lincoln before McDonald turned behind an Adebayo shot from 25 yards.

And the final chance of the day came from Bobby Devyne who unleashed a curling effort but Lincoln managed to keep it out of the top corner.
