An Enfield athlete is looking to find the ultimate spring in his step as he hopes to make the 2017 London World Championships.

Will Oyowe, who represents Belgium and is a member of the Newham and Essex Beagles Athletics Club, is hoping to be a part of the 4x400m relay team at the London Stadium.

The 29-year-old is coached by Lloyd Cowan and Clarence Callender and is represented by Tania Cyrena Cyrus from DILI CISports.

Cyrus said: “Will would be over the moon if he was to be selected for the World Championships.

“He works so hard including doing training sessions in the morning and in the evening.

“It will be a great opportunity for him and it would be another great achievement.

“Will would receive a massive confidence boost as it means the world to him to be able to be picked.”

The 400m runner is no stranger to the world stage having competed at the World Championships in Moscow 2013 along with the three Borlee brothers.

His big break also came in the same year where he came third at the Championships in Brussels behind Kevin and Dylan Borlee in the 400m final.

This summer he came second in the British Athletics League Division Premiership in a time of 47.49, two seconds short of his personal best at 45.88.

Oyowe moved from Belgium to the UK to further his athletics career and has since gone from strength to strength.

“He wants to compete with the best in the world and I believe he can do that,” added Cyrus.

“He currently trains alongside Confidence Lawson, Conrad Williams and Christine Ohuruogu.

“I think he will do anything he can to stay focused and represent his country in one of the greatest Olympic venues in London.”

The 2017 World Championships take place next year in August.
