Three members of the Enfield Ignatians’ Under-15s team are in the Middlesex county squad which takes on Berkshire this Sunday following a successful trial.

Akin James, Jamal Daley-Bonner and Feidhlim Ginty were named as a three and they all honed their fitness in their 55-0 friendly win against Old Verulamians at Donkey Lane last weekend.

Daley-Bonner was in particularly fine form as he crossed the line four times during the whitewash.

Coach Colin Pennicott said: “I’m over the moon as all three are very dedicated rugby players. Akin and Jamal joined the club at a very young age and have successfully risen through the ranks, while the versatile Feidhlim is a more recent recruit who can play in any position.”

Pennicott added: “All three are very keen learners and absorb any information passed on to them. It’s very good news for the club and we wish them well.”

The other scorers in their friendly was Marvin Addison and Ryan Loo with two and Ben Phillips as the blue and golds ran-in nine tries without reply against the visitors.

Dan Redding clicked with the boot by adding five conversions as the first team had a week off and return to league action on Saturday with a trip to Harrow.

But it was not good news for the second team as they suffered a 39-10 loss to Hertford IVs in Herts-Middlesex Merit Table Two.

Seyi Adeosun scored a try and Tim Yaworski added a penalty and a conversion in the defeat.

However, the thirds had a happier time of it in Hertfordshire after mastering Welwyn IIIs 30-17 in their latest Herts-Middlesex Merit Table Four game.
