ENFIELD Town salvaged a point as they drew 2-2 with Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday at the QES Stadium.

Billy Crook’s late penalty and Harry Ottaway’s early goal was enough to share the spoils with Hamlet in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

Almost straight from the kick-off, Ottaway picked up the ball at the top of the Dulwich box and slotted the ball coolly past Preston Edwards.

As the first half continued, Dulwich kept trying to launch the long ball with little effect and it was not until the 30th minute that Daniel Carr was able to place a header back across Nathan McDonald into the bottom right corner.

This goal had opened the game right up as Town went close when Samir Bihmoutine had a volley which just went over the bar and Dulwich’s Nathan Green almost ran the entire length of the field only to have his shot blocked by Percy Kiangebeni.

In the second half, Town started the brighter of the two but it was Dulwich’s tactical change of bringing on Alex Teniola for Daniel Carr which gave them more spark.

On the hour mark, there was slight controversy as the referee awarded the away side a penalty and Ashley Carew calmly converted the ball into the back of the net.

After this Tyler Campbell came on for Mickey Parcell and made an immediate impact when he had a shot turned out for a corner by Edwards.

But the game soon became scrappy and the hosts were awarded a penalty after Nigel Neita was brought down in the box. Crook converted it in front of the Town fans behind the goal.

But Town had a great chance to win the game when Tony Mendy was sent through on goal but his tame finish was easily gathered in by Edwards.

Campbell also could have secured the three points after he had an excellent run up the park but his shot was too weak to trouble the Hamlet keeper and the draw now means Town have extended their unbeaten run to six.

Ottaway said at full-time: “We see this as a good point gained rather than two dropped as we have to look for the positive rather than the negative.

“Hopefully our six-game unbeaten run can continue but we need to take every game as it comes.”

Enfield take the trip to Merstham on Saturday.
