Charlotte Dujardin won gold at Rio 2016 with Valegro in the dressage Grand Prix Freestyle event.

Dujardin was 14th rider to compete at the Equestrian Centre and scored 93.853% on her horse commonly known as Bluebell in his stables.

The Enfield born athlete cried tears of joy after her test with the 14-year-old in what could be one of his last competitions.

The pair remain unbeaten in 18 tests and she becomes the first British women to retain a gold medal in their history.

She told the BBC: “I am actually a little bit speechless, but it means the absolute world to me to come here and be individual gold medallist.

“To me it could be one of the last with Valegro as there is a talk of retirement so for me to finish it this way it is truly an emotional time.

“I have been riding him since he was 5 years old, he has been unbeatable and I want people to remember him as the most amazing horse that he is.

“He still loves his job and for me I just want everyone to remember him at the top.”

Carl Hester, who part owns Valegro, was notbaly pleased with his consistenacy since London 2012.
