Tottenham Hotspur’s Erik Lamela scored and played the full 90 minutes for Argentina last night in their 3-0 win over Bolivia in the Copa America.

Lamela put the South American side ahead in the 13th minute, with his deflected free-kick wrong-footing Carlos Lampe in the Bolivia goal.

From then on, it was reasonably straightforward for the Argentinians who doubled their lead two minutes later through Ezequiel Lavezzi.

It was three before half-time, as Victor Cuesta nodded home Lavezzi’s cross in the 32nd minute to seal a comfortable victory for Argentina.

Lamela will be hoping to keep his place in the Argentina side when they face Venezuela on Saturday in the quarter-finals of the competition.

The 24-year-old was a regular in the Spurs side which finished in third place in the Premier League last season, scoring 11 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Spurs defender Kevin Wimmer was an unused substitute for Austria, who were defeated 2-0 by Hungary yesterday in Euro 2016.

Adam Szalai put Hungary in front in the 62nd minute before Zoltan Stieber sealed the victory with a delightful finish.

Austria’s next match in Euro 2016 takes place on Saturday, when they face Portugal in Paris at 8pm.
