Enfield Ignatians' senior section received a boost following the promotion of the rugby third team to Herts-Middlesex Merit Table Four next season.

Third in Herts-Middlesex Merit Table Five last season behind unbeaten Finsbury Park, the opportunity arose after the latter were promoted two divisions to Herts-Middlesex Merit Table Three.

Consequently, two teams have been promoted to Herts-Middlesex Merit Table Division Four with Belsize Park Fourths joining Ignatians in the higher division.

The new fixture list for the 2016-17 season will also take in games against Biggleswade Seconds, Black Horse, Fullerians Thirds, Hendon Seconds, Letchworth Thirds, Tring Thirds, Watford Seconds and Welwyn Thirds.

Meanwhile, Enfield Ignatians Seconds will continue life in Herts-Middlesex Merit Table Two next season with the first team, as already reported, preparing for a second consecutive campaign in London Two North-West.

The blue and golds are seeking to bolster their ranks with new recruits.

The club welcomes players of all abilities and applicants are asked to contact Keir Bonnar by emailing keirbonnar@hotmail.com.

Enfield Ignatians are also readying themselves for the play-offs of the Finsbury Park Tag Rugby Early Summer Mens’ League this evening having wound up their regular campaign with an 11-11 draw against the Finsbury Flamingos last week.

Ignations finished tenth last season in London Two North West.

Enfield’s opening game next season will take place at home to rivals Hampstead on Saturday, September 10.
