Enfield Town have signed former Braintree Town midfielder Merrick James-Lewis.
James-Lewis played together with Towners boss Bradley Quinton at Braintree and the pair have been reunited after his summer arrival.
The 24-year-old started off in Southend United’s youth system before signing a professional contract with the club. A loan spell at Braintree followed before returning and making his Football League debut for Southend against Rotherham in 2011.
James-Lewis was released at the end of the season and signed a one-year contract at Colchester United.
He moved to Ebbsfleet United and has also had spells with Staines Town, Grays Athletic, Merstham, Canvey Island and Farnborough.
The Towners will take on Reading’s Under-21 side in a pre-season friendly this summer.
Quinton’s side will face the Royals on Tuesday, July 19 with a 7.30pm kick-off.
Enfield Town will visit Haringey Borough on Saturday, August 6. It has been moved from the previous Tuesday and will be the official opening of the new 3G pitch at Coles Park.
