Table tennis ace Denise Payet helped England to win a team bronze medal at the Cadet Six Nations competition in France.

The 15-year-old from Enfield joined Charlotte Bardsley, Gauri Duhan and Mollie Patterson in the England squad to take on teams from Germany, Sweden, Denmark and two from hosts France.

They beat France B and Germany 6-4 and Denmark 10-0 and lost 6-4 to champions France A.

A 5-5 draw with Sweden meant the two nations finished with seven points, and Sweden edged the silver medals on countback, with 378 points to England’s 361.

In the individual events, Payet won four of five matches to make it through the group stage and secure a place in the quarter-finals.

The teenager was beaten by eventual champion Karen Raharimanana of the host nation 3-2 (11-3, 7-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-2).
