Enfield Ignatians are coveting a top-four finish in the Finsbury Park Mens’ Tag Rugby league as they build towards the play-offs on June 15.
The side are fourth with two wins and a draw in five games, and they added to an earlier win against second-placed Tabard by defeating third-placed OH Touch Rugby in a 13-9 thriller.
The latest win came on the back of a disappointing 9-7 loss to fifth-placed Rub And Tag on May 18, when Ignatians bedded in a number of new faces.
Ignatians’ remaining fixtures are against the Shoreditch-based Tag My Pitch Up today and the Finsbury Flamingos on June 8, which is the prelude to the play-offs.
Ignatians’ Luke Ellis said: “It’s been an excellent way of keeping the group in shape before we embark on our pre-season.
“It was a pretty good game, and we took control early by taking a five try lead, but then, we just took our foot off the gas and they came back into it in the second-half.
“We had a couple of solo efforts from Jordan Wilson, Jake Bates, Liam Horn and Alex Harris. I scored two and Luke Stack scored a hat-trick.”
