Enfield Ignatians aren’t lying idle during the summer break and currently lie in fourth place in Division One of the Early Summer Men’s Tag Rugby league.

The team have started with a win, a draw and a loss in the opening three heats of the midweek evening tournament taking place at Finsbury Park.

The highlight so far has been the 11-6 win over third placed Tabard who, in common with Ignatians, ply their trade in London Two North-West during the 15-man regular season.

This was an improvement on the opening 4-4 draw with The Cheadle Choppers in which Ignatians did well to share the spoils after trailing 4-1 at the break.

The latest game, last week, saw Ignatians struggle to come to terms with the all-round pace of the league leaders and skilful New Zealand outfit, Milner-Skudders, who were well on top with a comprehensive 15-5 win over the blue and golds.

However, Ignatians still have another four games left before each team, depending on where they finish in the league, embark on a series of play-off games on June 15 which will determine the final league rankings.

All games are played at Finsbury Park and the blue and golds take on Rub And Tag tonight [Wednesday] at 7.30pm.

Ignatians welcome new recruits and anyone interested in either joining the club, or playing tag rugby, should contact Luke Ellis on l.m.ellis1990@gmail.com.
