Spurs extended their unbeaten run to ten Premier League games with a 3-1 win over Aston Villa.

Mousa Dembele slotted home the first after three minutes with Dele Alli doubling the score just before the half-time whistle.

Pochettino’s side almost lost their nerve in the final ten minutes as Villa netted a late goal curtesy of Jordan Ayew.

However the home side saw the game out and added made made it three in stoppage time through Harry Kane on what was a largely comfortable evening for the hosts.

Spurs remained unchanged from their emphatic 5-1 win away at Bournemouth.

It took just three minutes for the home side to open the scoring.

Dembele held off Ciaran Clark with ease to cut in from the wing and smash the ball through the legs of Brad Guzan into the net.

Scott Sinclair looked to install some confidence back into his side with a jinking run down the left that resulted in a powerful shot straight at Hugo Lloris.

It could have easily been 2-0 after 24 minutes if Clark had not deflected Kane’s drilled shot over the bar as Spurs pressed forward once more.

The half meandered towards half time without any sense of urgency from either side but there was just enough time for the hosts to double their lead.

Good play from Eriksen to feed in Danny Rose down the wing who was able to cross for Kane but the ball found its way to Alli.

The young England international took one touch before placing his shot into the bottom corner.

The second half rarely threatened to get going as a brace of Christian Eriksen free-kicks were the closest anyone came until the 79th minute.

Then the game sparked into life.

Spurs let a two-goal lead slip at home to Stoke back in August and home fans must have feared the worst when they conceded with ten minutes to play.

Careless play from Ryan Mason gave the ball to Ayew whose shot deflected into the net off Eric Dier.

The home side hit the panic button and almost caved in with eight minutes to play as Rudy Gestede rose highest to beat Lloris to the cross but the ball eluded the net.

As the away side pressed, Tottenham hit them on the break as Kane was found in acres of space inside the box to slot into the top corner.
