Tottenham Hotspur will be without five players for this afternoon’s Premier League clash at Swansea City (kick-off 4pm), though Mousa Dembele is back in contention.

Left-back Danny Rose joined Spurs’ injury list on Thursday by picking up a hand injury in the 1-1 Europa League draw in Monaco.

That means former Swans defender Ben Davies will continue in place of the Great Britain international as Mauricio Pochettino’s men go in search of a fourth consecutive Premier League win.

Rose joins an injury list which already includes Son Heung-min (foot), Nabil Bentaleb (ankle), Alex Pritchard (ankle) and Ryan Mason (knee).

However, the good news is Belgian midfielder Dembele is ready to make his first appearance since August after overcoming a foot problem of his own.

Whether or not the former Fulham man is fit enough for inclusion from the start remains to be seen, though.

Looking ahead to the clash in south Wales, head coach Pochettino told the club’s website: "It's another tough game, Swansea have had all week to prepare but we have full confidence we can go there and win.

"Swansea is not an easy team to play because they put you in a difficult situation, you need to run a lot but in the same way, we can press high and we believe in our way."

The Swans, who have already beaten Chelsea and Manchester United this season, have not won in four league and cup fixtures and find themselves 12th in the Premier League.

Boss Garry Monk does, however, have a clean bill of health ahead of Spurs’ visit but could well be contemplating changes following a 3-1 loss at Southampton last time out.

Despite that, Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen knows Tottenham will have to be at their best to take something back to north London.

He said: “Swansea look very good. They had a great start, beat Manchester United – the only team to beat them – and they look strong.

“We’ve had some good results against them but it’s always been close and we will have to be on top of our form on Sunday.

“We have to take the positives from Monaco and the last Premier League games into Sunday.

“We look strong, fit and we have a bit of everything now, hopefully we can show that on Sunday.”
