Striker Heung-min Son is Tottenham Hotspur’s only new absentee ahead of this evening’s Europa League Group J trip to Monaco (kick-off 6pm).

The South Korean forward, who has made a flying start to life at White Hart Lane by scoring three times in his first four appearances, will be missing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side due to a foot injury picked up Saturday’s 4-1 thumping of Manchester City.

Son joins the midfield quartet of Ryan Mason (knee), Mousa Dembele (foot), Nabil Bentaleb (ankle) and Alex Pritchard (ankle) in missing tonight’s visit to the Stade Louis II to face the nouveau-riche of Monaco.

One man who knows what the Ligue 1 side have to offer is summer signing and former Olympique Lyonnais forward Clinton N’Jie.

The Cameroonian attacker has been restricted to three substitute appearances so far this season but could well be involved for the visit to the compact 18,500 Stade Louis II.

Previewing the trip, he told the club’s website: “I think all the teams from the French league, whenever they play teams from England, are motivated and I know we are going to have a difficult game.

“Monaco always defend very well and I think they’re going to play forward and attack, so we know it’s going to be a difficult one.

“They will be at 100 per cent because they are playing against Tottenham, but we are going to be ready physically and mentally.

“Monaco are a good team but I think if we go there determined to win we can be victorious.”

Les Rouges et Blancs find themselves ninth in the Ligue 1 standings following a stuttering start which has seen them win just three of their first eight fixtures and lose to current title holder Paris St-Germain.

Whilst the days of huge spending under Russian billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev – which saw Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho join the club following promotion to Ligue 1 – have abated, the squad is still packed with talent.

The likes of Ricardo Carvalho, formerly of Chelsea, and Lacina Traore, a one-time Everton loanee, will be known to a British audience.

Aymen Abdennour (Valencia), Anthony Martial (Manchester United), Yannick Ferreira Casco (Atletico Madrid), Geoffrey Kondogbia (Internazionale) all departed this summer but Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao and Milan attacker Stephan El-Shaarway – both on loan – have arrived to bolster the squad.
