Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason says a first Premier League win is just around the corner ahead of Sunday's trip to Sunderland (kick-off 1.30pm).

Spurs have followed their opening day defeat at Manchester United with three consecutive draws, leaving them as just one of five sides who are winless at this stage along with Watford, Stoke City, Newcastle United and Sunderland.

But after peppering Tim Howard's goal with efforts at Everton prior to the internationall break and coming away with a solitary point, Mason believes a first three point haul is around the corner.

He told the club website: "The way we’re playing we know the results will soon follow.

“We’re confident and there is no reason not to be. We feel we’ve probably outplayed every team we’ve faced this season and we’ve certainly deserved more.

“Sunderland is a big game and we all want that winning feeling back as soon as possible. Hopefully we’ll go up there and do exactly that.”

There will be two familiar faces in Dick Advocaat's line-up at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.

Striker Jermain Defoe joined the Black Cats in January, via Toronto, whilst French defender Younes Kaboul treaded north London for the north east over the summer.

"Jermain is a natural finisher so of course we’re aware of his danger, you never lose those qualities,” Mason explained.

“But we’ll be concentrating on what we need to do on Sunday.”

Christian Eriksen (knee), Mousa Dembele (ankle) and Andros Townsend (ankle) are all expected to return for Sunday's visit to Wearside.
