Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane continued his fine start to the international season by scoring the opener in England's 2-0 2016 European Championships qualifying win over Switzerland on Tuesday evening.

The Spurs hitman, who has yet to score for his club this season, bagged his second goal in as many games and his third for the Three Lions as England laboured to victory over the Swiss.

Kane, who was introduced from the bench once more, took just ten minutes to open the scoring in front of an expectant Wembley crowd.

Captain Wayne Rooney then thrashed home his 50th international goal from the penalty spot to become England's all-time leading goalscorer, eclipsing Sir Bobby Charlton's long-standing record of 49 goals.

Spurs teammate Ryan Mason was an unused substitute for Roy Hodgson's side.

Kane had also scored in Saturday's 6-0 victory over San Marino and got his maiden goal for his country against Lithuania in March.
