Enfield's Isabelle Boffey was left toasting a job well done after claiming 800m gold at the Sainsbury’s 2015 School Games.

Heading to Manchester’s Regional Athletics Centre, Boffey was already able to toast a golden season having triumphed at the England Under-17 Championships, the England Schools and Schools International.

And the 15-year-old was in no mood to miss out on another top step of the podium as she crossed the line at the Sainsbury’s School Games in 2.14.43 minutes to pick up yet another gold medal.

This was Boffey’s first-ever Sainsbury’s School Games and the Enfield and Haringey AC starlet admitted she couldn’t have asked for a better introduction.

“It feels great, I was up against so many other competitors so I’m really happy with the win,” said Boffey, who finished 0.15 seconds ahead of Anna Burt.

“It was quite a slow first lap which was good for most of us but the last 100m we were all going for it and sprinting for the end.

“I saw someone out of the corner of my eye and I knew I had to go for the line and dip and I managed to get first.

“It’s my first School Games and first year of Under-17s. It’s been good. It’s amazing, there are so many people here and everyone is really nice. I loved the opening ceremony, there was so much entertainment and singers.”

The Sainsbury’s 2015 School Games, which is supported by National Lottery funding from Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, featured 12 different sports across four days.

And after seeing British women’s 100m and 200m record hold Dina Asher-Smith – who won gold in the latter at the 2012 Sainsbury’s School Games – Boffey is dreaming big.

“It was nice to listen to Dina Asher-Smith, it gives me a lot of hope for the future and that I’ll be able to hopefully get to that level,” she added.

“It’s nice to see them and here their experiences. I’ve got winter training where I will be trying to go as hard as I can and see how it ends up.”

The Sainsbury’s 2015 School Games is supported by a range of partners including the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Sport England, Youth Sport Trust, Department of Health and British Paralympic Association. The Games were held in venues across Manchester from 3-6 September 2015. Visit www.2015schoolgames.com for more information.
