Chijindu Ujah missed out on a place in the World Championships 100m final in China on Sunday.
The Enfield & Haringey sprinter reached the semi-finals in Beijing after finishing second in his heat with a time of 10.05, behind American winner Trayvon Bromell.
But Ujah finished fifth in his semi-final after again recording a time of 10.05. The race was won by silver medalist Justin Gatlin in a time of 9.77 which was faster than Usain Bolt recorded in his gold medal run.
Ujah qualified for the World Championships after winning the British Championship in Birmingham last month.
Ujah tweeted: “Today wasn’t to be. I can only take the positives from this, but onto the next Champs. Thanks to everyone who has supported me. I’ll be back!”
