Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly confident of securing the services of Lyon youngster Clinton N'Jie and it is understood a deal will be completed this week.

The 21-year-old scored seven goals in 15 starts last season, and the Cameroonian international helped Lyon to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 and qualification for the Champions League.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has suggested the club are in talks over their latest target and was hopeful a deal could be completed for the youngster.

Pochettino said: "A lot of names are linked with us. But this is private, our target, and I hope it can happen quick. It is very clear that we need to add more players."

The Argentine is keen to strengthen his attacking options as he currently has just one senior striker available to him. Spurs drew a blank in their opening day defeat to Manchester United. A Kyle Walker own goal gave United a 1-0 win.

N’Jie will inject some much-needed pace into their attack if the deal does get completed. The Lyon striker can play through the middle or out wide.

Spurs are looking to offload want away striker Emmanuel Adebayor and the struggling Roberto Soldado before the close of the transfer window.

Tottenham have already had two bids rejected and are expected to make an improved third bid this week. head coach Pochettino is looking to bring someone in to take the pressure off last season’s 31-goal hero Harry Kane.

Mathieu Valbuena’s imminent move from Dynamo Moscow to Lyon will give N’Jie the leeway to move to White Hart Lane.
