Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in pole position to sign FC Basel teenager Breel Embolo.
The 18-year-old has impressed since breaking into the team last season where he netted 16 times to help FC Basel claim their 18th Swiss Super League title and sixth in a row.
Embolo’s eye-catching form earned the youngster a call up to the Swiss national side. He made his debut in a 1-1 draw against the United States and since has gone on to make three appearances for his country.
Spurs, who lost their opening game of the season 1-0 against Manchester United at Old Trafford, currently have one senior striker available in the name of Harry Kane.
Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado look almost certain to leave and Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to add to his young squad.
According to reports Pochettino sent scouts to watch the youngster and would have been impressed with what they saw as the Swiss striker scored two against Luzern on Saturday evening.
Embolo will cost Tottenham around £10 million and Spurs are now favourites to claim his signature although West Ham United and Aston Villa rumoured to also be interested.
