Enfield Town boss Bradley Quinton insists he is not worried despite losing both of their Ryman Premier Division games this season and believes it’s only a matter of time before someone gets a drubbing.

The Towners suffered a disappointing start to the season after losing 1-0 at home to Tonbridge Angels on Saturday and followed this up with a 1-0 defeat at ten man Hendon last night.

But Quinton is not concerned about their start to the campaign and expects them to get off the mark soon.

Quinton said: “I’m not concerned because it’s only two games into the season and lots of sides get off to slow starts. If we weren’t creating chances then there would be a problem but we had a hatful on Monday and it was just one of those nights.”

He added: “It’s only a matter of time before someone gets a drubbing. They’re hitting the net in training but are just not getting the rub of the green during matches.”

It was a frustrating night for the Towners yesterday when a foul by Claudiu Vilcu enabled Aaron Morgan to score from the penalty spot.

Morgan was then sent off for an off the ball challenge on Vilcu but the visitors were unable to break their opponents down.

Quinton said: “Teams are trying to get us on the break and are putting ten men behind the ball. It is a credit to the team that they are worried about us and we will get it right.

“We gave away a sloppy penalty from a backpass. But then we created a hatful of chances and just didn’t take them.”

It was a sluggish first half in Saturday’s home opener with few chances for either side. Enfield went closest 13 minutes from time when Samir Bihmoutine rattled the crossbar with a fierce strike.

It looked as if the contest was heading for a draw but the visitors pinched the points in the 88th minute through a header by Tom Parkinson.

Quinton said: “I was very disappointed with our performance on Saturday. But saying that it was only an 89th minute goal that cost us when we lost our concentration.”

The Towners travel to Billericay Town this Saturday and could be boosted by the return of striker Bobby Devyne. He has been in America due to a family bereavement but is now back available.

Looking ahead to this weekend’s trip, Quinton said: “It should be a ding dong affair. It will be a fight and a real battle but I’m confident our quality will come through.”
