Enfield slumped to a seven-wicket defeat to Wembley in Middlesex County Cricket League Division Two on Saturday.

Wembley won the toss and the decision to put Enfield into bat worked out as they managed to dismiss their opponents for 180.

Opener Jack Plumb scored 25 but the rest of the side struggled with the bat until Neil Tiley came in down the order to hit an impressive 73 which gave them hope.

In reply, Wembley eased to the target for the loss of three wickets in 39 overs.

Leo Smith, Lesbourne Edwards and Ryan Cunningham all came away with one wicket apiece.

In the Seconds’ Division Two, Enfield managed to avoid defeat as they battled to a draw with Highgate.

Opponents Highgate opted to bat first and were in impressive form as they ran up a total of 302 for nine.

Darren Cousins took three for 38 for Enfield while Tom Bolt returned figures of two for 29. There were two wickets apiece for Andrew Mitcheson and Steve Davis.

Enfield struggled in reply and were fortunate to avoid defeat as they finished on 132 for eight. Joe Naughton scored 29 while Mitcheson top scored on 45 but only dogged resistance got them through to a draw despite being second best for much of the game.

Winchmore Hill eased to a seven-wicket win over Kenton in Division Three.

Kenton were put into bat and were limited to 150 all out. Siran Seevaratnam was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed five for 30. De la Rey Terblanche also took three for 55.

Winchmore Hill Seconds suffered a 27-run defeat to Uxbridge in Division Two.

Uxbridge scored 240 for eight and Winchmore Hill fell short of this target after being dismissed for 213.

The defeat leaves Winchmore Hill bottom of the table with just one win from 14 games.
