Enfield Ignatians have finalised their pre-season schedule by adding a match against Ilford Wanderers later this month.

Ilford Wanderers will be the blue and golds’ first opponents in a training game which will be played over four quarters of 20 minutes at Donkey Lane on Thursday, August 27.

The date has been deliberately chosen as the club has decided to steer clear of the pitfalls of the Bank Holiday Weekend, which begins 48 hours later when availability could become a key issue.

Coach Ali Cook said: “It will give us a chance to look at some different combinations before our full friendly against Saffron Walden on Saturday, September 5.”

The Saffron Walden game is a week before the national cup competition tie against Staines on September 12, which, in turn, leads to the opening league clash of the new season, when the Ignatians take on Hampstead at Donkey Lane on September 19.

The club is eager to attract new recruits of all abilities. The senior section runs four teams and players should contact club captain Keir Bonnar on 0774 390654 or by email at keirbonnar@hotmail.co.uk.
