Tottenham Hotspur defender Younes Kaboul is having a medical at Sunderland according to the Daily Express.

The French defender has travelled to Sunderland to undergo his medical and discuss personal terms with the club.

Sunderland missed out on the transfer of Belgian defender Nicolas Lombaerts after he failed his medical and Dick Advocat has now turned to sign the big French defender instead.

Sky Sports News report the fee agreed between the clubs is £3 million and Kaboul will sign for the Blackcats in the coming days.

The 29-year-old defender will become Sunderland’s third defensive transfer this summer as Advocat looks to strengthen a defence which conceded 54 goals last season and narrowly avoided relegation.

Kaboul made just seven appearances for Tottenham last season.
