Tottenham Hotspur have made a move for Juventus striker Fernando Llorente, according to reports in Italy.

The Spanish international, now 30 years old, became an increasingly peripheral figure for the Old Lady last season and only bagged nine goals in 45 appearances in all competitions.

His opportunities are likely to be limited further this year given Juve’s signings of forwards Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic and Simone Zaza.

Llorente had been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but that looks unlikely to materialise. Monaco and Liverpool are both interested in his signature, but Italian media outlets Sport Mediaset and TMW both suggest Spurs are winning the race.

The north Londoners are on the lookout for a new forward this summer, given the probable departure of Roberto Soldado. The striker is likely to cost somewhere in the region of £12 million.

Llorente has scored seven times in 23 appearances for the Spanish national side, and was part of the squad which won the 2010 World Cup.
