Botany Bay edged to a three-wicket win over Holtwhites Trinibis in the second round of the Herts County Trophy on Sunday.

Winning the toss, Holtwhites Trinibis batted first and were dismissed for 177 in 41 overs.

Umairh Shabbir opened with a score of 48 and Shane Farnon added 35.

Greg Harris was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of three for 16 while there were two wickets apiece for Tim Richards and Andrew Knight.

In reply, Botany Bay reached the target for the loss of seven wickets in 32.1 overs.

Dan Kastelik top-scored with 39 while Ryan McMenemy (36) and Michael Harris (30) also made valuable contributions to clinch the victory.

Botany Bay’s Herts Championship match with Totteridge Millhillians the previous day was halted early by the wet weather.

Greg Harris took four for 52 as Totteridge were bowled out for 238.

In reply, Botany Bay reached 86 for one after 17.2 overs, with 53 from Kasey Harris, when the match was stopped.

Botany Bay Seconds’ Division Six A match with Redbourn Seconds was also halted with the side on five without loss, chasing a target of 192.

The Thirds’ Division Ten B game with Hertingfordbury Seconds was halted early.

Botany Bay were dismissed for 112 but their opponents were frustrated on 20 for one as the rain intervened.

Holtwhites Trinibis could also not complete their match against Old Owens in Division Two and were fortunate to avoid defeat.

The team were in trouble after being skittled out for just 95 in 37 overs.

Old Owens appeared to be cruising to victory on 48 for two off 12.3 overs but the rain came to Holtwhites’ rescue.

Holtwhites Trinibis Seconds had their Division Six B match abandonded against Old Haberdashers.

Their opponents reached 206 for eight from their innings but Holtwhites were unable to start their reply because of the conditions.

In Division Ten A, Holtwhites Trinibis Thirds were saved by the rain as their game with West Herts Thirds was ended early.

The team were dismissed for 128 in 31.2 overs.

West Herts were in control on 51 for one off 14 overs but the wet weather scuppered their hopes of victory.

North Enfield were unable to bat with Division Three A opponents Hatfield Hyde scoring 184 all out when the match was abandoned.

In Division Six B, North Enfield Seconds were spared defeat by the weather.

St Margaretsbury Seconds scored 211 for seven from their innings and North Enfield were on the brink of losing on 128 for nine after 35 overs.

Southgate Adelaide’s Division Four game against Northampton Exiles was also hit by the rain.

The match was halted after Southgate had finished their innings on 219 for five.

The Seconds’ Division Seven A match with Allenburys & County Hall Seconds was abandoned with Southgate on 205 for five from 44.2 overs.

Southgate Adelaide Thirds were held to a draw against Potton Town Seconds in Regional Division A East.

Batting first, Southgate scored 223 for seven from their innings. Neil Watts was in excellent form, hitting 110 and Gareth Morgan contributed 69.

Potton Town could only manage a total of 153 for six as they held on for a draw.

Mohammad Waleed picked up three for 20 and Michael Wilson finished with two for 36.

Enfield’s match against Uxbridge in Middlesex Cricket League Division Two on Saturday was abandoned due to rain.

Uxbridge scored a total of 260 for nine from their 55 overs.

In reply, Enfield had just started their innings on three without loss after 2.3 overs when the match was halted.

Enfield Seconds were also frustrated by the wet weather with their Division Two game against Winchmore Hill Seconds brought to a premature end.

Batting first, Enfield were dismissed for 162 in 50.1 overs with Joe Naughton top-scoring on 68.

Winchmore Hill were in trouble on 15 for three after five overs when the contest was stopped.

Winchmore Hill’s Division Three game against North London also ended early as the side were prevented from clinching a probable victory.

The side were in excellent form with the bat as they declared on 300 for two off 46 overs.

North London were on 70 for two from 17 overs when the weather forced play to be abandoned.
