Enfield Town returned to the Isthmian Premier Division play-off places on Saturday but boss Bradley Quinton is refusing to label Saturday's trip to East Thurrock United as the pivotal fixture in their play-off bid.

The Towners boss is adamant the play-off race will instead run until the final weekend of the season, when the Towners host a Witham Town side who could already be relegated.

Saturday's 3-2 victory over AFC Hornchurch was made all the more profitable by the fact Grays Athletic, in sixth, lost, whilst Dulwich Hamlet and Margate - both above the Towners - could only pick up a point each.

Those results have left Town with a two-point lead over resurgent Grays, yet Quinton insists Saturday's visit to face the Rocks will not make-or-break Enfield's play-off aspirations.

He said: "We have done fantastically well and it has been a remarkable season. Obviously going to East Thurrock will be a great game for the neutrals but all I am worried about is that game.

"If we come away with a draw we will be more than happy. It will go down to the wire no matter what happens on Saturday.

"Dulwich Hamlet and Grays have both got tough games. But if we do what we got to do against East Thurrock and win and the others lose we will be home and dry.

"It is important but there is no pressure on these players because no-one expected us to ever be in this position," stated Quinton.

The Towners fell behind to Hornchurch after 18 minutes on Saturday when Martin Touhy fired the opener beyond Nathan MacDonald. And Frankie Curley's diving header very nearly doubled the visitors' lead shortly after.

However, Town drew level ten minutes before the break when Ryan Doyle converted from the penalty spot after Curley handled Tyler Campbell's snap-shot inside the penalty area.

"We spoke about that (the equaliser) at half-time and I said to them they were lucky to come in at 1-1 and they agreed with me," explained Quinton.

"I knew I would get a response in the second half because they were not pleased with their own performances. I feel like I can trust them and be honest with them."

Corey Whitely put Town in front just eight minutes after the restart when strike partner Bobby Devyne picked out his run and allowed him to fire past Hornchurch stopper Sam Mott.

And the home side's lead was extended to 3-1 when Whitely doubled up, Tyler Campbell this time laying on the goal for the former Waltham Forest striker. Hornchurch got a second back but Town held onto the three points.

The pair have displayed an excellent understanding together this season and Quinton joked: "Tyler and Corey, you would think they are two brothers. It is more of a relationship between the two of them than it is their girlfriends because they live together and they do get a lot of stick about that from the other boys."

He added: "The players responded really well and I was pleased with how they did respond. It was good link-up play from Tyler, Corey and Bobby Devyne as well."
