THREE men have been arrested following an attack on a young man in Glasgow city centre.

The 24-year-old suffered serious stomach wounds after being stabbed early yesterday in Queen Street.

He was attacked when trouble flared in a lane beside the Newsbox convenience store around 4am - and not outside the Cube nightclub, as reported in last night's Evening Times.

It's understood those involved had been at another city nightclub before the incident.

Paramedics treated the victim before he was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. A spokesman said his condition was serious but stable.

Queen Street was sealed off at Argyle Street while forensic experts combed the area for clues.

The road was reopened around 7am ahead of the morning rush-hour.

Surrounding streets and lanes were today still sealed off as the police investigation continued.

A police spokesman said: "Three men aged 21, 22, 27 have been arrested and are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court later today."

In May, a clubber was left fighting for his life and another was in a serious condition after they were stabbed near a city centre venue.

The men, aged 22 and 23, were knifed after a night out at Karbon nightclub, off Buchanan Street.

Detectives believe the men may have been stabbed by a fellow clubber who followed them into Queen Street. In our report last night it was stated that The Tunnel nightclub was for sale. Its owners, the CPL Entertainment Group, have asked us to point out is is no longer for sale.
