SCOTS parents are spending less on their children's nurseries than the rest of the UK.
The average UK baby's room has had £2630 spent on trendy furniture, plasma or LCD TVs, wallpaper and toys. The figure rises to almost £4930 in Wales.
However, in Scotland just £574 on average is spent per nursery, said the study of 1000 parents by insurance giant Halifax.
And, though infants may be too young to appreciate it, ambitious parents are also furnishing nurseries with original works of art, collectible framed souvenirs and antique furniture, it seems.
The nation's nurseries are now packed with a staggering £1.8billion worth of fixtures and fittings.
More than two in three parents (68%) said they never set a budget for the room when they set out to make a nursery.
