Enfield Water Polo Club maintained their 100 per cent record in the London Winter League by beating Guildford 11-8 on Wednesday at Southgate.

Despite being without three key players in Christian Pulido, Craig Snowdon and Rob Lucas, Enfield still set the tone for the game by taking a 2-0 lead via Tony Matthews and Andy Rolle.

Guildford hit back with two fine efforts from distance but Alex Waller and Rob Threadgold ensured Enfield took a 4-2 lead before the end of the first.

In the second quarter, Tom Mendham, Charlie Briers and Matthews all chipped in to extend the lead to 7-4 by half time.

In spite of the excellent form of Enfield goalkeeper Andy Boorman, Guildford won the third quarter 2-1, with Richard Waller scoring for the hosts.

Mendham and Rolle then added further efforts to the Enfield tally in the final quarter but Guildford refused to give in and reduced the deficit to 10-7.

Alex Waller snatched Enfield's 11th goal with seconds remaining, only for the visitors to hit back again just before full time.
