Enfield Town boss Bradley Quinton could return to Brimsdown FC for manager Marvin Walker and his staff after signing a third player from the Limers this week.

Midfielder Leon Wilson followed in the footsteps of Bobby Devyne – who added two more to his ever-increasing tally in the 4-0 win Billericay Town on Saturday – and Ricky Gabriel in making the jump from Spartan South Midlands Division Two to the Isthmian Premier Division.

Quinton and Walker have known one another since childhood and the link-up between the pair this season has borne fruit for the Towners, who have seen Devyne notch six times in his first five games.

Full-back Gabriel has impressed and Wilson has now followed his former team-mates to the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium.

Now Quinton says he wants to work closer with Walker and his staff: “[We are] looking to do something with him and his staff for next season. There might be something in the pipeline. He knows his football and plays the right way.

“He is a very good coach manager and hopefully we might be able to do something next season.”

Asked whether that would mean a role directly within Quinton’s coaching set-up, the former Tottenham Hotspur trainee stated: “I don’t want to say what role it would be. There are 13 games left so it is not fair [to discuss it further] but it is something we have been speaking about.”

Town reinvigorated their play-off push on Saturday with a comprehensive victory over Billericay, which coupled with results above them, saw the gap cut to four points.

Top-five occupants Metropolitan Police and Margate saw their meeting postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, whilst East Thurrock United lost.

“The league is do-able,” confirmed Quinton. “We do not fear anyone in the league and I thoroughly believe we have got what it takes to reach the play-offs. Once you are in the play-offs it is up for grabs and anybody’s on the day.”

Goals from Corey Whitely and Jordan Lockie added to Devyne’s brace, whilst Blues defender Ryan Scott was dismissed before the break for hauling down Devyne when he was last man.

After taking to the Isthmian Premier Division so quickly, the question remains whether anyone can keep the former Chelsea prodigy down.

Quinton said: “We have put Bobby on a contract.

“He has got better and better and it is great credit to Marvin Walker [how easily he has made the step up]. He feels like he is back home and it is all credit to my staff [the progress he has shown] “I feel before the end of the season we can get him fit and get him to where I expect him to be and who knows how good he will be when he is fully fit.”

Quinton also added former Barkingside, Redbridge and Waltham Forest centre-back Joe Ellul to his squad in time to be an unused substitute against Billericay on Saturday.

“He is a competitive, strong, winner; a no-nonsense player who wins a lot of headers, tackles a lot and gives everyone competition for their place,” explained Quinton.

Meanwhile, defender Taylor Hastings has been released by the Towners after falling down the pecking order.

Quinton’s side were at home to Cockfosters of the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division in the Middlesex Senior Cup on Tuesday and travel to Lewes in the league on Saturday.
