Former MK Dons and Peterborough United defender Jude Stirling made his debut for Brimsdown as they threw away a two-goal lead to draw with unbeaten table-toppers Hale Leys on Saturday.

Brimsdown remain fifth in the Spartan South Midlands Division Two, after surrendering a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Hale Leys, extending their own unbeaten run to nine fixtures.

The game burst into life when the Hale Leys goalkeeper deliberately handled outside the box under pressure from Ola Akinwande, leaving the referee with a big decision to make. However only a yellow card was issued against the stopper.

In the 25th minute Brimsdown took the lead with a fully-deserved goal. Bobby Devyne latched onto a goal kick from Alvin Pickering and after leaving the defence for dead, the pacey forward confidently rounded the keeper and passed the ball into an empty net.

Brimsdown were in total control by this stage, whilst Hale Leys looked like a shadow of the side who were unbeaten at the league summit.

On the stroke of half time, Brimsdown doubled their lead when skipper Ralston Gabriel fired home from six yards - his 17th of the season from just 15 appearances.

The second half saw Hale Leys come out fighting, determined to find a way back into the game and preserve their proud unbeaten record.

Brimsdown made a good job of holding firm until the 65th minute, when a long ball forward caused confusion in the Limers' defence and a sliced clearance from Gabriel looped over the head of stand-in goalkeeper Alvin Pickering.

With the deficit halved, the next goal would prove crucial in the outcome of the match and Brimsdown looked to have the perfect opportunity to level when Devyne won a penalty. However, he could not beat the Brimsdown goalkeeper and the Limers were left to rue the miss just five minutes later.

Hale Leys were awarded a penalty of their own and the strike beat Pickering to seal a share of the spoils. Former Leeds United striker Leon Constantine could have snatched the win but it was not to be for Brimsdown.
