An Enfield Ignations Veterans side will take on the current Enfield Ignations Fourths this Saturday as part of their pre-season preparations.
The fixture came about after a photo from St Ignatius College’s school rugby tour of Dublin in 1994 was posted on Facebook by Wes Silva - a senior member of '94 team.
Initial intrigue in the photo gradually snowballed until a full match was agreed, with the veterans having been in training on a weekly basis since the start of July in preparation for the clash.
A squad of roughly 30 veterans has been assembled for the match, which kicks off at 4pm at Enfield Ignations' Donkey Club.
There will be a raffle held at the club, with proceeds going to the Enfield Mental Health Users Group.
