Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has stated that his side is “better than last year”.

The forward played 80 minutes in last weekend’s victory over West Ham United and believes the White Hart Lane side is better than last season.

Speaking to the Haringey Independent, he said: “Everybody is dancing and very happy after winning last week, we showed strength and personality and we had to dig deep.

“After losing to the three times last year, we have already shown with this win that we are better than last year.”

Despite being left at home for tonight’s match against Cyprian side AEL Limassol in the Europa League play off, Adebayor is not fazed by the packed schedule that awaits Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

He said: “That is football, that is what we do in our career. We play Sunday, Thursday, Monday; it is what we want to do in our lives.

“Playing football is the best thing that can happen to anyone who grows up playing, like me, so I will personally never complain about playing too often.”

Adebayor’s Spurs career kicked back into life last season as he bagged 14 goals in all competitions compared to eight in the 2012-13 campaign.

Under new manager Pochettino, Adebayor revealed that the sooner he gets his first goal this season the better.

He said: “I am used to having a new manager, I have had eight or nine in my time.

“I will keep my focus and keep doing what I know and play my football and enjoying myself. He quite likes my style, and the quicker I get my first goal the better.”
