Enfield Ignations made an encouraging start to their pre-season campaign by defeating London One North side Chingford 14-5.
The friendly was played in quarters and the visitors hardly saw the ball in the opening 12 minutes as Chingford dominated the early exchanges.
But, either side of conceding a soft try, Ignatians laid the foundations of victory following scores from scrum-half Jordan Wilson and prop Christo Kasabi. Both of which were converted.
Both teams were under strength but that gave the Ignatians coaching team of Emile Hertz and Steve Atkinson the chance to blood some new recruits as well as test some new combinations.
Hertz said: "We had a number of players away on holiday and sent a squad of predominantly 22 first and second team players to Chingford. It went really well and the most satisfying aspect was our defence."
Ignatians have two further pre-season friendlies before the league campaign and entertain Stevenage at home on Saturday, August 30.
