Enfield and Haringey sprinter Bianca Williams missed out on bronze by a tenth of a second in the 200m final at the European Championships in Zurich last night.

The 20-year-old finished in fourth place in a time of 22.68, which left her an agonizing tenth of a second behind France’s Myriam Soumare in third place.

The Netherlands’ Dafne Schippers took gold in Friday night’s final, with Team GB’s Jodie Williams scooping silver.

B.Williams had qualified for the final on Thursday evening by finishing second in her heat, behind eventual winner Schippers.

Enfield and Haringey team-mate Desiree Henry – who reached the final of the 100m – will join Williams in the Team GB women’s 4x100m relay team, who begin their quest for gold this afternoon.

Margaret Adeoye is also in 4x400m relay qualifying action this afternoon, whilst Chijindu Ujah is part of the men’s 4x100m relay team which begin their challenge today.
