Tommy Connick scored a last-gasp try to help Oxford beat London Skolars 31-24 and ensure the Skolars' fightback proved fruitless.

Visitors Oxford, second bottom of the Kingstone Press Championship 1, took a 24-6 lead into half time, with tries from Connick, Jimmy Rowland, Andrew Hoggins and Sean Morrison.

Courtney Davies crossed the line after the break to reduce the visitors' lead, before Mufaro Mvududu and Bryan Lamount also touched down to drag Joe Mbu's side back into the contest.

Jordan Rice scored a drop-goal for Oxford to nudge the away side ahead once more, before Iliess Macani's converted try set up a nervy finish, with the Skolars trailing by just one point.

With time almost up, Connick crossed the line to crush the Skolars' hopes.
