Frank Buglioni says he is looking to continue his ‘boxing education’ after parting company with trainer Mark Tibbs to join Steve Collins.

The 25-year-old Enfield super-middleweight, who returned to winning ways in his last bout by beating Sam Couzens by fourth-round knockout, has left Tibbs on “amicable” terms after deciding he needed a change of scenery.

“I only recently made the decision, maybe last week,” explained Buglioni. “I went to Dublin and they have a training camp there and close to my next fight I’ll go over there and use that before my fight.

“I’ll go over and live and breathe boxing beforehand.”

Buglioni continued: “I made the decision maybe three or four days after my last fight. I decided it was time for a chance.

“I parted company with Mark then because I wanted to get ready for my next fight [with my new coach]. I just felt it was time and I wanted to continue my education in boxing.”

Collins, 50 and from Dublin, is a former professional who boasts a record of 36 wins from 39 bouts – 21 by knockout. A former super-middleweight, the ‘Celtic Warrior’ had suggested he would come out of retirement last year in order to fight former nemesis Roy Jones Junior.

On October 5 of last year, 16 years after his retirement, Collins returned to the ring to face former professional, Frank Harrington, in a three-round exhibition fight.

Reflecting on the decision to appoint Collins as his trainer, Buglioni said: “I was a big fan of Steve growing up and his style is similar to my own.

“After I parted company with Mark and started to look at who I’d like to train me. I gave Steve a call and I immediately got on well with him. I made several calls to him and I liked everything he said.”

Buglioni also revealed he has yet to line up an opponent for his next fight, which is expected to take place this September.
