Enfield Water Polo Club saw their four-match winning streak in the London League come to an abrupt end in a 9-8 defeat to Otter on Tuesday.

Visitors Enfield selected a strong side for the match at St Paul’s Girls’ School in Hammersmith, but failed to gather any real momentum as Otter made the brighter start.

The home side controlled the first quarter thanks to a flurry of intense breaks and sharp shooting – resulting in a 4-2 lead.

Otter consolidated their lead further with a 6-3 half-time score as Enfield struggled to beat the in-form home keeper.

Goals from Dax Cain and Rob Lucas during a confident period of play from Enfield brought the North Londoners back into the match at 8-7.

But it was Otter who took advantage from poor passing in the fourth to seal a 9-8 victory – a result which sees Enfield remain second in the league behind Watford.
