Anil Mistry's four wickets proved in vain as Northampton Exiles were beaten by two wickets at home to Cheshunt in the Hertfordshire League Division Four on Saturday.

Put into bat by their visitors, the Exiles started sluggishly, with Bhautik Patel (15) and Rameez Hassan (15) offering minimal resistance from the off.

Twenty-three from Amar Patel at four and 24 from Jordan Alleyne-Lawler helped the home side to a total of 132 before being bowled out.

Aiden Richardson starred with the ball for the visitors, taking three for 23, and was well-supported by Sam Stephenson (three for 30).

Richardson then hit 43 at six to drag the away side towards a victory which had seemed unlikely early on.

Opener Spencer Worboys went for six before Matt Richardson (22) and Ben Phillips (20) contributed important knocks.

Mistry's four for 43 were not enough as Cheshunt snuck the win.
