Swansea City will hold out for a better offer for defender Ben Davies following Tottenham Hotspur's bid of £8m, according to the South Wales Evening Post.

Davies, 21, had been subject of an £8m offer from Spurs earlier in the week but it is understood the South Wales outfit will seek out a better offer for the left-back.

The Welsh international has excelled for the Swans since stepping into the first team two seasons ago following serious injury to Neil Taylor.

Tottenham could take advantage of Swansea's interest in midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson in brokering a deal though, with the Swans interested in breaking the Icelandic playmaker back to the Liberty Stadium.

Sigurdsson impressed at Swansea in a six-month loan spell at the end of the 2011/12 season before sealing a move from parent club Hoffenheim, to Spurs.

The former Reading man is valued at £10m by the White Hart Lane outfit but could be used as a bargaining chip in any deal for Davies.
