Enfield & Haringey Athletics Club walker Callum Wilkinson shattered his personal best time at the IAAF race walking competition in Lugano, Switzerland.

Wilkinson, who was representing England Athletics, bettered his PB by more than two minutes as he crossed the line in fifth place in the Under-18 race in a time of 46.36.

He was the second European athlete to cross the line and was England’s leading junior walker at the meeting.

For Wilkinson, who celebrated his 17th birthday last week, this was his first race following a demanding winter schedule and he met three targets important in mapping out the rest of his season.

Meanwhile, Enfield & Haringey AC will be holding a 15 minute walk a mile challenge at Donkey Lane on Saturday.
