Enfield’s Frank Buglioni retained his WBO European super-middleweight title by stopping Italian Gaetano Nespro in the fifth round of their bout at the Copper Box Arena.

The 24-year-old, who claimed the title last year, was in control of the contest from the opening bell.

Nespro, who said he would school Buglioni prior to the fight, was on the back foot throughout. He tried to counter but missed the majority of his punches.

Nespro tired and ‘Wise Guy’ Buglioni continued to land his punches. In the fourth round, Nespro, 34, was floored with a strong right hand from the Enfield fighter.

He managed to return to his feet but was again rocked at the start of the fifth. Nespro looked to escape near the ropes but a powerful left hook from Buglioni put the Italian down for a seven count.

Nespro again managed to pull himself up but a strong right knocked him down for a third time and the referee decided to wave the fight off.
